Stone & Still Waters Garden

OAKLAND, CA

Stone & Stiil Waters blends Japanese aesthetics with California’s dry-climate sensibilities. Custom stone paving flows like a quiet path through time, anchored by weathered boulders which replaced old wood retaining walls. A concave basalt water feature is fed by a copper shishi-odoshi–inspired spout, while a reflecting pond is framed by moss-softened stones. Drought-tolerant plantings echo the textures and forms of traditional Japanese gardens, with intentionally placed Japanese maples adding elegance and seasonal color. A custom stone bench invites quiet reflection, completing this timeless balance of stone, water, and living beauty.
